Assignment 3: Broadway

I have had the privilege of seeing a few broadway shows but nearly not as many as I'd like to go to. I did get to see one in particular that should be on anyone's broadway must-see list: The Lion King. It was interesting to see how they adapted the animated movie into a live action broadway musical. I was not disappointed.
Everything from the set design to the costumes were absolutely beautiful. The African culture really shined through with everything that was used and created in the show. I could tell they did their research about the colors to use,  the way things were painted, and patterns that were on their costumes. The actors' faces were beautifully painted to help represent which animal they were portraying. Some of the actors used puppets to help portray their characters like Timon and Zazu. It was incredible how they made them so life-like and made their movements very fluid.
I definitely not disappointed by the songs they sang considering they were songs from my childhood. It really did bring back some nostalgia for me and my friends. The dancing was interesting because the dancers really embodied animal-like movements with their choreography. However, the only part I found a little weird was when it was time for the lions to roar and the actors actually yelled a roar instead of a recording being played. I didn't really know what to think of that, but it wasn't too bad. My favorite character was Rafiki. His whole attire was crazy and amazing, and the actor who played him definitely did him justice.
